The husband or wife of persons awarded the Order of the Republic and the Order “Stefan cel Mare” posthumously will receive a monthly allowance for special merits before the state of 500 lei. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament in the first reading on March 22, IPN reports.
The allowances for special merits before the state will be paid to the wife or husband of the person awarded posthumously if these were married on the day of the death or to the mother or father of the person awarded posthumously if the person wasn’t married. If the parents divorced, the sum will be divided equally between them at request.
Under the bill, the monthly allowance is set from the date the application and all the required documents are submitted, even if the person benefits from pensions or state social welfare.
The new provisions will take effect on July 1, after they are passed by Parliament in the final reading.
By presidential decrees, 100 Orders of the Republic and 139 Orders “Stefan cel Mare” were awarded posthumously.
