Reinstating of Viorel Morari as chief prosecutor at the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office was to be expected given the fact that he was dismissed following a settlement of accounts. MPs of the current ruling coalition argue that it was obvious that the court would restore him to office, IPN reports.

Alexandru Slusari, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, MP of the PPDA group, ACUM bloc, argues that, from a legal point of view, Viorel Morari was illegally dismissed, as a result of account settlements within the Prosecutor's Office. "He was dismissed in violation of a number of articles and it was clear that the court would restore him to office. In addition, the state had to pay large amounts and I understood that this was a temporary decision so as not to cause damage to the state. I hoped this decision would not last long,” says Alexandru Slusari.

Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea asserts the same - that Viorel Morari was dismissed following an internal fight in the system. According to him, in June, hundreds of public prosecutors publicly supported the PDM government and this system is now resisting. "If prosecutors knowingly failed to act on cases during the previous period, it means that they were part of the system. Obviously, they are defending themselves now and reinstating of Viorel Morari is part of the picture. The system has not been restarted yet because we have just amended the law on the Prosecutor's Office, we will change the regulations of the judicial system so as to create commissions in extended format for the assessment of magistrates and judges,” said the MP.

Viorel Morari has been reinstated in the position of chief prosecutor at the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office. An order to this effect was signed by the interim Prosecutor Dumitru Robu on September 17.
