The works to rehabilitate the water supply and sewerage networks in Chisinau, carried out in the framework of the project financed by the EBRD and EIB, continued during state of emergency. According to SA “Apă-Canal Chisinau”, the works went on by obeying the safety and security at work rules.
The company’s spokeswoman Nadejda Fotescu has told IPN that the works to rehabilitate about 84 km of water pipes and mains in Centru and Rascani districts of Chisinau and also on the streets Podul de Flori, Sarmizegetusa, Burebista, Calea Ieșilor, Drumul Crucii and others continued as planned. Works were also executed to rehabilitate about 55 km of water pipes and mains in Botanica district and about 7 km of sewer pipes located mainly in the historical center of the city.
All the rehabilitation works financed by the EBRD and EIB are to be completed by the end of 2020.
Nadejda Fotescu said that during the state of emergency the water supplier ensured the constant provision of water supply and sewerage services. There were performed no works to connect newly build pipes to the existent network that imply interruptions in the public water supply service. The workers dealt only with pipe accidents and obeyed all the required protection measures.
