Regulation on coordinator in human rights came into force

The Regulation on the activity of the coordinator in human rights came into force together with its publication in “The Official Monitor of Moldova” on January 12. The document aims at contributing to the promotion and implementation of the basic national and international standards in the field of human rights, depending on the activity of each public authority. According to the Regulation, the coordinator performs the activity in collaboration with the structural subdivisions of public authorities and subordinated bodies. This office can be granted to a public servant, who works in the central or local public administration, shows appropriate professional skills and is up to date with the international and international standards in the field. He shall follow the recommendations of the parliamentary commission for human rights and of the coordinating council for the creation and implementation of the National Action Plan in human rights (PNADO). His tasks are to analyse the situation in the field; to participate in the planning of activities related to the implementation of PNADO; to monitor the implementation process of PNADO etc. The Coordinator has the right to train persons that would get involved in the process of analysing the situation of human rights; would study citizens’ opinions in this respect. His obligations also include the consequent promotion of the national and international laws in the activity of the public authorities in human rights; find deficiencies in the implementation process of PNADO and make proposal for their elimination; respond promptly in case human rights violations occur.
