A regional hospital with the capacity of 250 beds is to be constructed in Balti. It will serve the people living in the northern districts of Moldova and will provide cardio-surgery and neurology services as well. The project to build and equip the hospital was accepted by the interministerial committee for strategic planning of the Government, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the project will be implemented in 2016-2019. The Ministry of Health is to present studies concerning project costs during a reasonable period of time. The Government of Japan is the potential donor.

The committee also approved the project to construct a wastewater treatment station in Soroca town. It will be implemented during three years of the signing of the financing contract. The cost of the project is about €7.7 million, 30% of which is a grant provided by Slovenia, 60% is a loan offered by the Bank of Slovenia, while 10% is allocated from Moldova’s Ecological Fund.

It was also agreed to continue the negotiations with the Government of Spain in order to finance a renewable energy project. The loan of €20 million for the given project is intended for purchasing equipment for improving energy efficiency and will contribute to reducing the country’s dependence on imported energy resources.

There was discussed the possibility of accessing a NATO grant of €1 million within the Partnership for Peace Program for destroying pesticides and hazardous chemical products stored on Moldova’s territory.

The interministerial committee for strategic planning also agreed to extend the mission of high-level European advisers from 15 to 26 so as to stimulate the implementation of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU, especially in such areas as reformation of justice, combating of corruption and ensuring of stability in the financial-banking sector.
