Regional development strategy approved

The Government's regional development efforts during the next two years will be aimed at strengthening the capacities of three regions: North, Center and South. Under the regional development strategy approved by the executive, new regional development institutions will be created to strengthen the strategic partnerships in managing the related project.
At the next stage, in 2012 -2019, activities will be mainly carried our in the following development regions: the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, the municipality of Chisinau and the Transnistrian region, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“There will be worked out a viable regional development financing mechanism for the Government and the donors,” said Minister of Construction and Regional Development Marcel Raducan.
The law on regional development provides for the creation of the National Regional Development Fund that will be used to finance different projects. It will be formed from 1% of the yearly revenues collected into the state budget. “This year, the National Regional Development Fund will include about 135 million lei. We hope the donors will also contribute money,” Raducan said.
