The international situation is rather favorable for the approach to withdraw the Russian military troops from Moldova’s territory to be discussed at the United Nations, said experts invited to the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

“It is more favorable because the international community after 2014 started to be more attentive to what Russia does and imposes sanctions against the Russian Federation because it is dissatisfied with the way in which this country treats the states from its neighborhood,” said analyst Corneliu Ciurea.

Political analyst Oazu Nantoi shared this opinion. He said the regional contest is appropriate for such initiatives. “As a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, I want this problem to be debated at the UN General Assembly and to be adopted by a substantial majority so that it is clear that Moldova is supported. But I know that Vladimir Putin’s regime will not react at all and this resolution will have no positive impact without that national strategy and that national consensus that does not exist now in Moldovan society,” he stated.

On September 22, Prime Minister Pavel Filip called on the delegates of the states that took part in the 72n session of the UN General Assembly to support Moldova’s request to include the pullout of the foreign military forces from its territory in the agenda of the session. Earlier, the Government of Moldova submitted an official application to this effect, based on a Parliament decision.
