MP Reghina Apostolova was placed under judicial control for 30 days. The decision was rendered today, September 19, by the Chisinau Court, Ciocana headquarters. The information was confirmed for IPN by Cătalina Bogonos, spokeswoman for the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office.
The parliamentarian has not attended the hearing. A rally was organized in front of the court in support of Reghina Apostolova.
Pavel Verejanu, the candidate of Șor Party for the position of mayor of Orhei municipality, said that there were no reasons for detaining Reghina Apostolova and Marina Tauber. According to him, Reghina Apostolova feels ill and is still in the hospital. Verejanu also said that those in the government proved what they could do between 2009-2019, and Șor Party, "which is a breath of fresh air for Moldova", managed in a limited time to accomplish concrete results. In his opinion, the governors should be sanctioned at the elections.
People shouted out: "Freedom!", "Justice!", "Freedom for Reghina Apostolova!", "Reghina, we are with you!" etc.
Parliamentarian Reghina Apostolova was stripped of immunity earlier this week. On the same day, her group colleague Marina Tauber remained without immunity as well. According to prosecutors, there is conclusive evidence regarding the involvement of the MPs in the bank fraud.
As for Marina Tauber, the court ordered house arrest.
