Refuse chutes to be closed in Chisinau

Refuse chutes will be sealed in Chisinau's apartment buildings and containers will be placed instead in an attempt by the municipal administration to improve sanitation in the city, Info-Prim Neo reports. Before closing the refuse chutes, notorious for being extremely messy, infested with rats, and difficult to empty, the municipal services will disinfect the tubes, the storage rooms and the basement areas. At the same time, the refuse chutes will undergo rodent treatment. By September 1 the municipality plans to install new and larger containers on areas adjacent to the apartment buildings and improve access to them.
