Refugee Day marked in Chisinau

The refugees settled in Chisinau distributed informative brochures in central Chisinau on their day, urging the voters to be more tolerant, understanding and receptive. A number of NGOs set up the brochures on the asphalt in the form of tents, creating the illusion of a refugee camp in miniature. “All those who wanted could take a ‘tent’ and read about the refugees. Leaflets were also distributed from hand to hand,” Dumitru Maxim, chairman of the Society for Refugees, has told Info-Prim Neo. On June 27, there will be staged a similar event in a shopping center in Chisinau. On June 20, it is 60 years of the foundation of the UN Refugee Agency. In Moldova, the Refugee Day has been celebrated since 2004. The drive in central Chisinau involved the Charity Center for Refugees, the Society for Refugees, “Ave Copiii”, the Law Center of Advocates, and the Refugee Division of the Ministry of the Interior’s Bureau of Migration and Asylum.
