Recruit’s Day celebrated in Chisinau

The Recruit’s Day was celebrated in Chisinau. This day marked the start of the campaign for conscripting Chisinau young people into the Army Forces.
During the festivities on this occasion, organised traditionally at the Monument to Stefan cel Mare, on Wednesday, May 2, colonel Ion Savciuc, deputy head of General Staff of the National Army, stated that the Ministry of Defence is efficiently carrying out the military reform that would contribute to creating a modern army according to European standards.
Attending the festivity, interim mayor Petru Svet said that to serve in the army is a right, but also a duty of each young man. In the context, the official remarked that the municipal military Centre, in concert with the district offices made efforts to train the young men for serving in the army.
Under the Government decision, 3065 recruits will be conscripted for military service this spring, 1360 – into the National Army, 850 into subdivisions of the Carabineers Troops and 800 for the Border Guards Service.
From Chisinau there will be recruited 380 young men, of whom 228 will serve in the National Army, 76 men in the subdivisions of the Carabineers Troops and 800 in the Border Guards Service. The first 50 Chisinau recruits will be conscripted into the Border Guards Service on the Recruit’s Day.
The country’s local public authorities, in common with the raion military centres are to set the task of conscription for the city halls in rural and urban areas. The Ministry of Defence was entitled to redistribute the task of conscripting between the raion military centres. The men who are 18 years old or reach this age in the conscription period and do not benefit from the right to postpone the recruitment or be freed from military service for a fixed and a reduced period will be conscripted into the National Army, Carabineers Troops and Border Guards Service.
