The population is urged to avoid the recreational areas in Chisinau municipality as the sanitary-epidemiological situation there leaves to be desired. Swimming in ponds polluted with microorganisms poses risks of catching infectious diseases, while direct contact with contaminated beach sand can favor the appearance of parasitic diseases, IPN reports.
According to the State Public Health Surveillance Service of Chisinau municipality, after the heavy snowfalls of late April, the meteoric waters polluted the soil and surface waters. To prevent risks, the pollutants should be removed.
The monitoring of the quality of water in ponds in recreational areas in the course of 2016 showed that this does not meet the requirements and swimming is not recommended. Also, the sand on beaches in recreational areas is polluted with helminth eggs.
Specialists recommend going to protected areas, not swimming in polluted waters and attentively reading the information posted in recreational areas.
