The recreation areas in Chisinau municipality are not ready for summer. The population is urged to avoid them as the sanitary-epidemiological situation there leaves to be desired.
There are six recreation areas near ponds on the territory of Chisinau municipality, namely: Nistrean Park in Vadul lui Voda, Vatra, Valea Morilor Park, Valea Trandafirilor Park, Rascani Park and La Izvor Park.
Contacted by IPN, hygienist of the Chisinau Public Health Center of the National Public Health Agency Alexandru Nalba said the quality of sand on beaches and of water is not appropriate. Therefore, swimming and resting in those areas are not recommended. There was found no pathogenic flora, but the coliform and Escherichia coli bacteria, which are dangerous for humans, exceed the norm there.
Lab examinations showed the sand is polluted with helminth eggs. Usually these are found when the temperatures are higher. The sand wasn’t property treated in none of the six recreation areas.
Alexandru Nalba said that from sanitary-epidemiological viewpoint, the situation is more favorable in the Nistrean Park in Vadul lui Voda as the water their is running and the public toilets and bath cubicles were laid out appropriately. In Vatra, the situation is worse as the water is static and started to spoil.
