The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations recommends the people who will attend Easter services in churches to keep the candles covered and to avoid crowdedness. Relevant recommendations were formulated as part of the campaigns to prevent fires and situations of risk during the Easter holidays that was launched on April 28, IPN reports.
Serghei Josan, head of the Inspector’s Fire Prevention Division, said the church employees should make sure that the access ways to churches are free so that firefighting vehicles could pass unrestrictedly when necessarily. During services, the doors will be open. All the church employees should be trained how to act in case of fire or another eventual emergency situation. The churches should be outfitted with fire extinguishers. The electric should be used according to recommendations, without being overused, so as to avoid short circuits.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, face masks and disinfectants should be available at entrances to churches. Rescuers recommend the religious ceremonies to be held in the open air. Inside churches, a social distance of at least two meters should be kept between people.
Four fires broke out in yards of churches on Easter last year.
