The recipients of social welfare will be able to choose by themselves the provider from which they will receive the money. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament on May 29. If they want, the recipients of social welfare will be able to collect the money from others banks than the branches of Banca de Economii or post offices, as now, IPN reports.
One of the authors of the initiative, lawmaker Valentina Stratan said many people complain that they have to monthly go the branches of Banca de Economii, sometimes in another settlement, to take the money. Besides discomfort, they also incur costs when they need to go to another settlement, if the bank does not have a branch in their settlement.
Valentina Stratan noted that when the law takes effect, the recipients of social welfare will go to the local house of social insurance to file an application where they will specify the institution from which they want to collect the benefits. The authorities will examine the applications and will consider the possibility of signing a contract with the given institution. Afterward, the applicant will be informed if the application was accepted or not. Those who will not file an application will receive the social benefits from the same providers as now.
