A priest driving under the influence of alcohol hit two pedestrians and ran away. The accident happened on Wednesday evening on Dimo Street of Durleti town. According to the Chisinau Traffic Police, the priest holds a senior post in one of the town’s churches.
Ion Roscovanu, inspector of the Road Safety and Administrative Supervision Service of the Chisinau Traffic Police, told Info-Prim Neo that the drunken priest hit a man aged 35, who suffered an open fracture of the bones of the left shank, and another man of 53, who got several ribs broken. The driver left the place of the accident, but was shortly found by the traffic police.
The cited source said that the priest on October 11 committed another similar accident on Constantin Stere Street near “Prometeu” lyceum. Three students were crossing the street according to rules and were hit by a car that did not stop at the red traffic light. The driver also ran away. According to the police, the priest hit one more pedestrian in August 2006.
The priest was arrested. Legal action was taken against him.
On Wednesday, two taxis of the companies 1422 and 1448 hit by a pedestrian on Tudor Vladimirescu Street and Dacia Boulevard. Both of the victims suffered mental shock.
A number of 29 road accidents occurred in the municipality of Chisinau in the past 24 hours. Five persons were injured in them.
