Real preconditions exist in Moldova for implementing Council of Europe recommendations, Dorin Chirtoaca

In Moldova there are real preconditions for implementing all the recommendations for overcoming the political crisis made by the Council of Europe over the last 15 years, Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said in a meeting with the Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Andreas Kiefer in Strasbourg, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Chisinau City Hall, the discussion centered on the draft Resolution of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, which will be adopted in the next meeting, and on the situation as regards local autonomy in Moldova. “Andreas Kiefers’ message was that the resolutions adopted earlier should be implemented and the Moldovan authorities should take steps and put into practice by 2014 all the recommendations made by the European partners so as to offer the local public authorities full autonomy,” said the mayor. He also said that the implementation of the recommendations of the Council of Europe is a seriousness test and it will be impossible to explain the possible failure. Dorin Chirtoaca has been in Strasbourg on an official visit on March 21 – 23. He has taken part in the Conference of the Regional and Local Authorities for the Eastern Partnership.
