The Bashkan of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal, together with his partners from the Communist Party (PCRM), will hold a dangerous meeting for Moldova and the situation the country in Comrat this Saturday. Its goal is to make the situation tenser, members of the Democratic Party (PDM) from Gagauzia say in a resolution of the party’s staff, quoted by IPN.

The Democrats said a meeting of the deputies of the People’s Assembly and members of the Parliament of Moldova of all the legislatures was scheduled for February 22. The results of the February 2 referendums will be discussed officially there. In reality, some of the political forces, first of all Formuzal and the party he heads - the Party of Regions – and the allies from the PCRM, use the results of the referendum to impose an ultimatum to the central authorities and to destabilize the situation in Gagauzia and all over Moldova,” reads the resolution.

The authors warn that the personal interests of Formuzal and the PCRM, which wants to return to power, are behind this attempt and other actions aimed at destabilizing the situation. “They chose the Gagauz people as a target and try to generate a confrontation between the 150,000 people and the other part of Moldova,” it is said in the resolution, where these actions are described as separatism attempts.

In this connection, the staff of the local organization of the PDM in Gagauzia calls on the members of the People’s Assembly not to take part in the political show staged under the aegis of Formuzal and the PCRM. They also call upon the administration of the Democratic Party and other ruling parties to establish a constructive dialogue with Comrat so as to solve the existing problems.

In a statement, members of the PDM from Gagauzia criticize the behavior of Mihail Formuzal and accuse him of propagating separatism that leads to the escalation of the relations between Chisinau and Comrat. They say that seven criminal cases were started against Formuzal for appropriation and other illegalities. “Formuzal’s plan is to transform Gagauzia into something similar to the Euromaidan. In order to fulfill these ambitious plans and to increase his rating, he is ready to resort to bloodshed,” says the statement.
