In real estate transactions between two individuals, bank or electronic transactions will be allowed in foreign currency, but only once every three years. This provision is included in a draft law proposed by PAS deputies Radu Marian and Victor Spinu, IPN reports.

According to Radu Marian, this amendment will simplify the procedure and reduce currency conversion costs for citizens conducting these transactions electronically.

"Based on the data we have, 90-95% of these transactions between individuals (excluding the Prima Casa and Prima Casa Plus credit programs) are conducted in foreign currency," the MP explained.

He also reminded that, starting April 1, 2025, cash transactions for real estate will only be allowed up to the equivalent of 100 average salaries in the economy (1.61 million lei or approximately 80,000 euros).

"We made this decision because cashless payments are much simpler and safer for citizens, while also reducing the risk of money laundering and the use of cash in illegal activities," Radu Marian added.
