The public assembly that will be staged in the Great National Assembly Square on November 3 to support the country’s European course represents a real Campaign for Moldova, representatives of the three parties of the Pro-European Coalition said on October 31. They urged the participants not to resort to electoral propaganda on this day and vehemently rejected Communists’ accusations that the people are forced to attend this event, IPN reports.

“We want a Campaign for Moldova on November 3. It forms part of no electoral or political campaign,” said the representative of the Democratic Party Andrian Candu. “We will go to the Great National Assembly Square on November 3 as ordinary people of this country, who think about its future. We urge not using the party symbols and not resorting to electoral propaganda as we want a real campaign for Moldova.”

According to Andrian Candu, the Communist Party wants to stage provocations. He called upon the people not to yield to pressure. “We must have a decent behavior on this day so as to be closer to the European standards,” he added.

The deputy chairwoman of the Liberal Democratic Party Liliana Palihovici urged the supporters of the European integration to come to the central square of Chisinau, underlining the event is not political. “We will come to support the national idea of European integration. We will come with the European symbols, not the party ones,” she stated.

Deputy Speaker Oleg Bodrug, who represented the Liberal reformers, denied the reports that the November 3 event is political in character. He specified that the idea was put forward by people from districts and villages. “We had discussions with our colleges from local organizations. Staging a public meeting in Chisinau in support of Moldova’s integration into the EU is the wish of the whole people, not of parties’ leaders. You will see as most of the districts will be represented at the assembly in central Chisinau,” he said.
