The leader of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu stated his opinion about the rumors that President Nicolae Timofti prepared a decree to nominate ex-Premier Ion Sturza for premiership. He voiced hope that the rumors will not come true and that there is no such decree, IPN reports.

“I personally spoke to the head of state. I was contacted and I said that until there is no parliamentary majority and the time permits, we should wait. We had a meeting with the other parties yesterday evening and things seem to have moved on. I hope such a decree will not exist, even if the head of state has the right to issue it. But he should convoke the parliamentary groups and should consult us,” the politician told the journalists.

Mihai Ghimpu admits that this information appeared following a stratagem of the Lib-Dems, who insisted that the last meeting should have been held in secret. “At start the PLDM asked that everything should be transparent, buy yesterday they said we should not inform the press. Today we already see information about the decree and I realize that they wanted to make the head of state believe that things didn’t move on. Parliament could be constrained to vote the candidate so as to avoid early elections, but what this government will do next and how reforms will be promoted?” he asked.

Businessman Ion Sturza left a message on his Facebook page in response to the statements of Mihai Ghimpu, whom he calls the ‘trumpeter’ of the captured state. “Why are you scared misters?!,” he wrote, saying that after he made public his personal manifesto two days ago, he thought whether to present the offer that was ‘brought’ to Chisinau and that was blocked with hysteria and vehemence.

The ex-Premier also wrote that the individuals play with fire. “I admit that I’m shocked by the impudence of the ‘smaller evil’, as some diplomats in Moldova stated, and by the uncontrolled hysteria of the ‘strugglers’ for values. The wish to keep the ‘capture’ is incredible! Without doubt, the coming period will be very turbulent and violent,” he said.

In his message, Sturza does not say if the information that he could be nominated for premiership is true or not.
