The political parties came with reactions after the Constitutional Court ruled that the ordinary or snap parliamentary and presidential elections cannot be held concomitantly, IPN reports.
The Party of Socialists said it supports President Igor Dodon’s idea that the first decree signed by the President after this autumn’s e presidential elections should be to dissolve the current Parliament. “We would like to save people’s money and to have snap parliamentary elections simultaneously with the presidential ones on November 1, but will comply with the High Court’s decision,” the party says in a press release.
According to the PSRM, the current legislature was marked by multiple MP corruption scandals and does not represent the vote given by the people last year. “The boycotting of the plenary sittings by the Sandu-Candu-Plaha-Shor Alliance of the Chaos is another reason for discrediting. In the current situation, only the citizens should decide who must represent their interests in Parliament.”
Pro Moldova Party president Andrian Candu said the current agenda of the opposition parties should focus on the expectations and needs of the people. “The competition of vainglory should be stopped as we are close to a social revolt owing to poverty and injustice. The Constitutional Court’s judgment leaves no room for interpretations and the exercises of juridical ingeniousness should be stopped and a Government that is able to revitalize the economy and to ensure the safety of people in Moldova should be formed,” stated Andrian Candu. The party asks the Chicu Government to withdraw the irresponsible assumption of responsibility and to unblock the main state institutions.
MP of the Party of Action and Solidarity Sergiu Litvinenco said that no matter what, the Republic of Moldova does not have chances of moving on with a Parliament elected by the model of Vlad Plahotniuc. December 24, 2020 is the first day when the dissolution of Parliament becomes possible.
The leader of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Andrei Năstase said the CC’s judgment was predictable and is in strict compliance with the Constitution. “I make again a call for reason and public responsibility to each Member of Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and urge them to do what they should do for the country and for the millions of people who expect them to provide solutions to the critical situation we face. The people need sanitary, social and economic security, not political, juridical or propagandistic mishmashes that only destroy the Republic of Moldova”.
