The social-political movement Ravnopravie criticizes the makeup of the Filat Government. “We cooperate with different political and social organizations in Transnistria and try to put into practice the statements of those who consider the two banks of the Nistru must be drawn closer. I assure you that if our people had formed part of the Government, the discussions with Transnistria would have been different,” the organization's leader Valery Klimenko told a news conference on October 20. He said the members of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) do no fulfill their commitments to defend the rights of the national minorities and the new composition of the Government shows this. “Unfortunately, the new Cabinet includes no representative of the national minorities. The Russian speakers remained outside the state administration,” Ravnopravie says in a statement that was distributed at the news conference. Klimenko said the statement is intended for Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the Parliament, ambassadors and international organizations working in Chisinau. According to the movement's leader, the created situation runs counter to the European democratic practices and the national legislation, which guarantees equal access to the administration of state affairs. “The AEI made a serious mistake when it deprived one fourth of the population of the right to have representatives in the supreme executive body,” he said. Klimenko said he expects that Vlad Filat will take steps to solve the given problem and one fourth of the posts in the Government will be offered to Russian speakers. “We are ready to present a list of professionals who could fill the given positions even today. They know Romanian as well,” he also said.
