Over 300 members and admirers of the Alliance “Moldova Noastra” (AMN), their mouths taped, have kept a five-minute silence on the International Human Rights Day, Info-Prim reports. The organizers said that their event is a protest manifestation, entitled “The Communist Regime Is Ensuring our Right to Be Silent”. “It says more […] than the unintelligible speeches of some of the officials”, AMN spokesperson Victor Osipov said. He stated that the attendants of the event tried to say that “Human Rights violations are not recognized in Moldova and the government does nothing to eradicate this phenomenon. It usually takes us weeks to make our speeches heard”, said Osipov. AMN leader Serafim Urecheanu told Info-Prim Neo that “the members of the party, its admirers, and people resented at communist dictatorship gathered together in front of the Opera House in Chisinau as a token of protest against authorities, against usurpation of power, against the attitude of the red-orange coalition, and against the usurpation upon the freedom of speech”. The most recent example is the closedown of the municipal stations “Antena C” and “Euro TV”, badly wanted by communists and Christian democrats, added Urecheanu. According to AMN leader, all these Human Rights violations in Moldova are suggested by those over 40 cases lost at ECHR and damages worth 8.5 million lei due by the authorities to people who suffered from the justice subordinated to Voronin. “All that is happening over the past six years in Moldova is against the human being, and just favours communists and their associates”, said Urecheanu. Those over 300 attendants, most of them with black tapes on their mouths, rallied in the square of the Opera House, with AMN leaders and members of parliament in front of them. The organizers installed in the square 3 microphones, which they called “free”. Nevertheless, they were mute and a raven supervised them for the entire duration of the event.
