Trade between Moldova and the European Union increased by one third after the cooperation between them became more intense. Also, by its financial support, the EU helped Moldova’s economy to grow four times, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy said in a speech given in Chisinau. The European official considers that after the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU is signed and ratified, these ties will become even stronger, IPN reports.

“The Association Agreement will bring positive dynamics to Moldova. You deserve a bright and prosperous future. Maybe for the first time we will see Moldova as a flourishing country. You already enjoy visa-free travel. I think this will also bring cheaper flights,” said Herman Van Rompuy. He noted that Moldova already made progress in all the areas, but has yet to work to fight corruption.

The official also said that after the Association Agreement is signed, more investments will come to Moldova and new jobs will be created. “The Moldovan products are already recognized on the European markets. The Moldovan wine simply works miracles,” he stated.

Herman Van Rompuy added that it is important to maintain the feeling that the country follows the correct path and to combat the disinformation about the European course. When Moldova associates itself with the EU, its sovereignty will not be affected and all the decisions will be taken by common consent.

The Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU will be signed in Brussels on June 27.
