The rankings of the most influential politicians in Moldova, compiled by the Institute for Political Analysis and Consultancy “Politicon”, is not rather different from the August rankings. Head of Parliament Igor Corman slipped one spot, while the leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin went down two spots, IPN reports.

The first position in the rankings is traditionally occupied by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. Experts say the Premier will be among the main players with special influence on the voters in the election campaign that will start officially in October. The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat ranks second. He continues to be active in the relationship with the general public and appears frequently in the mass media.

Speaker Igor Corman, even if he descended one spot to the third, is the electoral driving force of the Democratic Party (PDM) in the parliamentary elections of this autumn. He is followed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Gherman and President Nicolae Timofti, who climbed back to the fifth spot.

The next positions are occupied by Minister of Education Maia Sandu (sixth), Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov (seventh), Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca (eighth), and first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc (ninth).

The Top 10 rankings are closed by the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin, who was generally absent from the public sphere. However, he remains a veritable electoral locomotive of the Communist Party, who can secure a good score in elections.

The August rankings of the most influential political parties are topped by the PLDM. This party is followed by the PDM. The experts consider the PDM’s result in the November 30 elections will depend a lot on the re-formation of a new pro-European government in Chisinau. The PCRM, which is the main opposition party that is very popular with the Moldovan voters, comes third. The next spots are occupied by the Liberal Party, the Party of Socialists, the Liberal Reformist Party, the People’s Movement “Antimafie”, the National Liberal Party, the Social-Democratic Party, and the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova.

The August rankings of the most influential 50 politicians in Moldova were compiled with the participation of 31 experts. Each of the experts gave grades of 1 to 10 to the politicians from the list.
