A car rally was organized in Comrat to celebrate the birthday of fugitive oligarch Ilan Șor. His supporters declared their admiration for him, saying that this is "his era," reports IPN's correspondent from Gagauzia.

The event took place on Thursday during working hours. A procession of cars, all displaying the Gagauz flag, started in Comrat and ended in Congaz, at GagauzyaLand. There, Ilan Shor was addressed by his supporters and representatives of local authorities from the team of Bashkan Eugenia Gutul.

A video of the event was published on Telegram channels associated with Ilan Sor. The Deputy Chairman of the Gagauzia Executive Committee, Ilia Uzun, led the motorcade. Upon arriving in Congaz, he proudly displayed a T-shirt with Ilan Shor’s portrait on his chest.

"Ilan Mironovich, you are in our hearts. We love you, we appreciate you, we respect you. We know that you are always with us," declared Ilia Uzun.

"It is your time, it is your era," said Iurie Kuznetsov, deputy head of the external relations department in Comrat, referring to Ilan or.

Against the backdrop of the "Glory to the Liberators!" tank monument, Mihail Vlah, an advisor to the Bashkan, wished the fugitive Sor "health and inexhaustible energy."

Although the video footage of the event showed only a few dozen participants, the text accompanying the video on Shor-associated channels claimed that "thousands" of supporters had gathered to congratulate the "politician" and "philanthropist" Ilan Shor, who has been sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison.

Ilan Shor is sentenced to 15 years in prison for fraud of particularly large proportions in the "Bank Fraud" case. The sentence was handed down in April 2023 by the appeal court. The sentence was increased practically twice, after the lower court sentenced him to seven years and six months in prison with execution for money laundering and swindling in particularly large proportions in the cases of non-performing loans granted in 2014 by the Savings Bank.
