About 192,000 Moldovan families will benefit from increased compensations on their heating bills after Parliament adopted legislation to this effect in a fast-track procedure.
In particular, the maximum compensation has increased from 450 to 815 lei a month. Also, access was simplified for low-income households to cold season aid.
Additionally, the recipients of cold season aid whose entitlement to this benefits has just expired or is about to expire will continue to receive it until March 31 without having to apply again.
According to the legislation’s sponsor, MP Dan Perciun (PAS), the additional social protection measures destined for households, in particular vulnerable ones, are meant to offset the increase in heating bills.
The costs of the adopted measures are estimated at 70 million lei for the next three months, provided that the energy tariffs remain unchanged.
