The bridge from the 116th km of the Moghiliov-Podolski – Ocnita railroad branch was closed until September 29, and the trains that come and leave the Republic of Moldova avoid this section of the railroad. Due to this, the trip is by 3 to 4 hours longer, declared for Info-Prim Neo the councilor of the director „Moldova Railroads” (CFM), Anatol Tvetcov.
The increase in the travel time has aroused the discontent of the passengers, Tvetcov affirmed, as there is no other shorter path. The itinerary during the repairs does not stop in the Volcinet railroad station, but the passengers can reach this station from Ocnita by auto transport.
Anatol Tvetcov has previously attacked the information brought by the Ukrainian State railroad administration „Ucrzaliznitea”, according to which the Republic of Moldova will be under a railroad blockade from September 1, with the start of the repairs to the mentioned bridge. The CFM official qualified the affirmations of the Ukrainians as a provocation with a Transnistrian blend, meant to push open the traffic on the Cuciurgan (Ukraine) - Novosavitcaia (R. Moldova) railroad branch, which was blocked by the Transnistrians on March 4. Instead he stated that “we cannot travel on this branch as we do not control this region and thus we cannot assure the traffic security”.
The Press Service of the Ukrainian State administration of the railroad transport has previously announced that from September 1 the traffic on the Moghiliov-Podolski – Ocnita railroad branch, that connects the Republic of Moldova with Ukraine, will be blocked due to the reparations to the mentioned bridge. According to the cited source, if no other access routes are opened, the passenger and merchandise traffic from the Republic of Moldova in September will be blocked completely.
