Radu Albot has started strongly at the Rogers Cup, an ATP Masters 1000 tournament taking place in Canada’s city of Montreal.
The Moldovan top-rated tennis player (ATP #39), has defeated the Frenchman Gilles Simon (#34) in two sets, 6-4, 6-2, in just 1 hour and 37 minutes.
Tonight Albot will face Guido Pella (#24) from Argentina. In case of victory, Radu could play with the tournament’s favorite and defending champion Rafael Nadal.
In doubles, Radu Albot paired with Russia’s Karen Khachanov (#8) to take on John Peers-Henri Kontinen, a game they lost 7-6, 2-6, 13-15.
