Placed 133rd in the world rankings, Radu Albot began the competition at the Batman Cup Challenger tournament held in Turkey in an enthusiastic way. Moldova’s best tennis player eliminated an athlete of the hosts in the first round, IPN reports.
Albot beat Barkin Yalcinkale, who ranks 985th in the world, by 7-5, 6-3. In the next round, the 25-year-old athlete, which is the fifth favorite of the competition, plays India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan, who takes the 233rd position in the ATP rankings.
Albot will also compete in the doubles, together with Alexandr Nedoviesov of Kazakhstan. In the first round, the two will play against the pair Ivo Klec and Alexandr Metreveli. The tournament in Turkey, whose price money is €42,500, closes on April 12.
