Moldovan tennis player Radu Albot scored two victories in the qualifying competition of the international tournament BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy held in Bucharest. After beating two Italian athletes, Albot lost to France’s Paul-Henri Mathieu in the second qualifying round, 3-6, 1-6. The game lasted for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Another Moldovan tennis player, Maxim Dubarenco was defeated by Roman Jebavy of the Czech Republic 1-6, 2-6 in the first encounter and was thus eliminated from the contest.
Albot and Dubarenco are members of the national tennis team, which will fight for qualification for the Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group I in September, for the first time. Moldova meets Denmark away.
