Moldova’s best tennis player Radu Albot scored two victories in the qualifying rounds of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament. He beat Guilherme Clezar of Brazil and David Guez of France, IPN reports.
His next opponent today, June 24, is Josef Kovalik of Slovakia. If he wins this game too, Albot will qualify for the first time for the final of a Grand Slam tournament. The game was to be played yesterday, but was postponed owing to rain.
Radu Albot is the only Moldovan who entered the rankings of the world’s top 100 tennis players. In his career, he won 14 Futures tournaments in singles and three Challenger tournaments.
