A radiology and imagistic diagnosis center outfitted with modern medical equipment was opened at the National Clinical Hospital in Chisinau within a public-private partnership, IPN reports.

The center is about 1,500 square meters in area and is endowed with magnetic resonance and computed tomography imaging apparatus, digital radiology devices and other equipment that enable to make a modern diagnosis in cardiology, oncology, neurology and neurosurgery. The medical equipment is worth €5 million, while the construction works cost about €1 million. The costs were covered by the private partner.

In the inauguration ceremony, the private partner’s representative Valeriu Gladun said it was rather difficult to implement this project owing to different barriers, but they succeeded. “We will continue to invest in healthcare for the people’s benefit,” he stated.

Acting Health Minister Andrei Usatii said that the public-private partnership becomes a strong point of the strategy for developing the health system. “This center is intended for everyone, especially the institutions situated near the National Clinical Hospital,” he said.

Acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that Moldova must have an efficient health system and this center is a good start. “More projects in healthcare will be completed soon. The Government during the last few years increased the financing for health services. We also unblocked foreign financing,” he said, adding that significant financial support is expected to come from Japan.

“We hope that the National Clinical Hospital will soon become a modern hospital that meets the European standards,” said the institution’s director Sergiu Popa.

The public-private partnership is a project of cooperation between public and private institutions.
