Radiologist Valeriu Pripa loses battle with COVID-19

Radiologist Valeriu Pripa has died. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection said the 59-year-old physician was admitted to the National Clinical Hospital in a serious state on March 28, being later diagnosed with COVID-19. He suffered from chronic diseases, third-stage hypertension, IPN reports.

Valeriu Pripa, Doctor of Medical Sciences, worked as division head at a private clinic. Earlier he held the posts of head of the Radiology Section and head of the Nuclear Medicine Section of the National Clinical Hospital.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the epidemiological analysis performed by specialists showed the infection didn’t occur at the workplace. Earlier, Valeriu Pripa made a visit to the UK.

The Ministry of Health expressed its profound regret at this loss, noting the professor devoted his entire career to the healthcare system.

As many as 752 persons in Moldova have been diagnosed with COVID-19 so far. Of the 14 deaths associated with the novel coronavirus, three were reported on the left side of the Nistru. The youngest infected patient is a woman aged 27 from the Transnistrian region. Two more doctors are among those who died.
