The first radio station in Moldova designed exclusively for children will be inaugurated on the International Children’s Day, June 1, in Chisinau. Scaparici will broadcast on the 90.7 FM frequency in Chisinau municipality. The new station’s mascot is the hero with the same name from the movie Maria, Mirabela. The target audience of the new radio station, which will broadcast in Romanian only, ranges from young children to teenagers, but there will be broadcast also programmes for parents and teachers, director executive of the station Dumitru Chicu told a news conference on Wednesday, May 30. According to the cited source, the station aims to broadcast music and programmes in a new, close to the children style. “We want to teach the youngsters what is good and beautiful. We hope that they will become more tolerant and respectful towards their fellows and the adults through our programmes,” Chicu said. The broadcast schedule will include news for children about the most important events in their life, about activities in schools and lyceums and their fellows from abroad; educative programmes from different areas. “We will keep pace with the school curricula so that the children easier assimilate the courses,” Dumitru Chicu specified. Yet, the station will be an entertainment station and the majority of shows will be interactive. There will be dedication programmes like “Give and Receive”, anecdotes with and about children “Cheerful Desert”, the Evening Tale etc. According to producers, the programs will contribute to the development of the listener’s vocabulary. The strong point on which the station counts is the correctly pronounced word. Scaparici will wake up at the same time as the small children, at 7 in the morning, and will go to bed together with them after the evening tale,” programmes director Sorina Obreja said. Mainly adults will host the shows, but the children will have the possibility of participating in live programmes. The broadcast schedule will include about 70% of music. The producers focus on made-in-Moldova and international music sung by children and adults, music that contains messages for the smallest. The broadcast schedule does not contain yet programmes for teenagers, but the producers have plans to launch such shows in the near future. Until then, they will be able to listen to music for their age after 21.00. The project is financed by the Union of Phonogram and Videogram Producers. The Union plans to expand the coverage to the municipalities of Balti and Cahul by autumn.
