The supply of hot water in Chisinau was fully resumed, but this has led to a decrease in the temperature of the delivered heat, Deputy Mayor Vladimir Cotet told a meeting at the City Hall on Monday, December 24. At an air temperature of 10 degrees Celsius bellow zero last night, the temperature of the delivered heat in pipes had to be 88 degrees, but it was not higher than 74, he said. Termocom’s technical manager Vladimir Babici confirmed the decrease in the temperature of the delivered heat, but according to him, this is a consequence of the fact that Moldova-Gaz reduced by 20% natural gas supplies to the combined heat and power plants in Chisinau. This situation, he says, will continue until the remaining 100 ml lei owned by the City Hall to Termocom are paid. The price of 233 and 540 lei that the population and economic agents accordingly pay for heat covers only 50% of the production costs, thus, Termocom will continue to supply heat at the level of payments, Babici says. The decrease in the temperature aroused dissatisfaction among the population, Babici said. At the same time, 29 apartment blocks remain without hot water due to various technical problems that have to be solved in the near future. Deputy Mayor Mihai Furtuna qualified Termocom’s actions as groundless as the population’s health is at stake. According to him, the company continues to make profits that should be used by the company to cover the costs of production. Furtuna repeatedly requested Termocom to explain to the City Hall how the new heat charge was determined and what production costs are involved.
