The parliamentary commission of inquiry into the circumstances that led to the laundering of considerable amounts of money through courts of law and financial-banking institutions of Moldova sent a series of questions to Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. According to the commission’s head Inga Grigoriu, these are the questions formulated in the December 29 public hearings to which Alexandr Stoianoglo didn’t present himself, IPN reports.

Inga Grigoriu also said that the questions were addressed to Alexandr Stoianoglo not as to the prosecutor general, but as to a former MP and chairman of the parliamentary commission on national security, defense and public order and as a member of the Supreme Security Council. As these questions do not refer to the post of prosecutor general, they do not affect the secrecy of the investigation.

The commission wants to know in what year and in what circumstances, Alexandr Stoianoglo heard or was informed about the suspicious financial transactions performed through banks in Moldova in 2010-2014; what actions he took while holding the post in 2010-2014 and what proposals he formulated; what actions were taken by the head of the NAC, the NBM governor, the SIS chief and if they reported the taken measures to him.

The parliamentary commission of inquiry into the circumstances that led to the laundering of large sums of money through Moldovan courts and banks was created on November 30, 2020 to identify those to blame and hold them accountable and to rid the state institutions of persons who were indirectly or directly involved in this scheme.
