Quebec offers new possibilities for Moldovans, who want to immigrate to this Canadian province. Those who wish to live permanently in Quebec can participate in the free of charge informative sessions held in Chisinau by the Government of Quebec. The number of immigrants is not limited, Info-Prim Neo reports. Christina Mirtcheva, of the Bureau d'immigration du Québec in Vienna (BIQ) told a press conference on Wednesday that the interested persons can immigrate to Quebec, if they have good knowledge of French, posses information on Quebec and correspond to the requirements of the BIQ. The interested persons can be selected only if they fulfill the preliminary immigration evaluation form on-line. If the response is positive, the applicant can submit the official immigration request – Selection Certificate Request (DCS). After obtaining the Quebec Selection Certificate, the candidate can submit his or her papers to the Embassy of Canada for permanent resident visa issuance. The papers can be examined for 9 to 12 months. The examination of asset of papers will cost each family 390 Canadian dollars (about 3500 lei) and 150 Canadian dollars (about 1300) for each family member. The selected candidates should take upon themselves the responsibility for informing themselves on the process of searching for a house or a job of their specialty, special conditions concerning a profession or trade. According to Christinei Mirtcheva, among the major objectives of the Quebec immigration policy is the renovation and the rejuvenation of the population, obtaining qualified labor force and maintaining the francophone community. Those who move to Quebec can be granted Canadian citizenship only after 3 years. Double citizenship is accepted. In the period between 2007 and 2008, 500 persons (85% percent of the applicants) from Moldova were accepted. In 2008 Quebec plans to accept between 46.7 and 49 thousand immigrants. The share of the admitted immigrants according to the selection should constitute around 72% of the total of admitted immigrants. The share of those who speak French at the moment of the admission could reach at least 61% of the total.
