The Ecological Green Party (PVE) officially announces its opposition to the current governing alliance and claims that it will constantly provide objective information on the anti-ecological attitudes of Moldovan governance to the society and European environmentalist partners, including members of the European Parliament. In a letter offered to the media, green environmentalists said they took this decision given the total disregard towards the environmental protection area on the part of the current government, IPN reports.
The party calls on Prime Minister Maia Sandu to "stop disrespecting Moldova's environment, hiding behind European standards". The PVE also requests that the competitions for employment in the sector be ceased.
"Soon it will be a hundred days since the new Government has been invested, but the work style of the current governance clearly indicates that nothing will change fundamentally, that one thing is said and another is done. All your assurances regarding the establishment of a European model of governance has not been supported by views or deeds,” the letter says.
As PVE maintains, the situation created in the capital is a warning signal that ecological issues are beginning to surface, "even if previous governments have swept them under the rug." According to the PVE, no attempt has been made to strengthen a priority area for the entire Europe and civilized world - environment protection.
"We do not believe that you are aware that most of the arrears in the Moldova-EU Association Agreement are related to Chapters 16-17 concerning the requirements of EU Directives on compliance with environmental standards. With whom will you harmonize the ecological legislation, with whom do you plan to obtain results so as to have clean water, fertile soil, healthy food, untouched forests?” asks PVE.
According to the document, the Ecological Green Party is part of the European Green family, which holds 74 seats in the European Parliament.
