The Baptist Union from Moldova, an association of Protestant churches, distributes Christmas gifts in schools, kindergartens, boarding schools and orphanages from the entire country. On Thursday, December 18, at 8 a.m., pupils from the lower grades of the high school from Ciorescu village, Chisinau municipality, were called to the canteen to be given presents in shoe-box-size boxes, Info-Prim Neo reports. Before getting the gifts, they saw a play about the Savior's birth and listened to songs about Jesus performed by a team of adolescents brought by the Baptist Union. First deputy bishop of the religious Association Ion Miron says they plan to distribute 56,000 boxes this year, as half of them have already been given. The campaign lasts from early December to January 14. “We love the children a lot, our Lord Jesus loves the children and thus we can share our joy with which we received Jesus in our hearts,” Ion Miron said. Andreas Ledin came form Germany with a team of colleagues with whom he collected the gifts for Moldovan children. “It's nice to make the children happy. My children collected boxes, too, as did children from schools, kindergartens and churches,” he said. The presents for Moldovan kids come mainly from Germany, but also from Switzerland and Ireland. Generous people from the West make presents for children from poor countries, each year in November. The action is called “Operation Christmas Child” and is unfolded by the Samaritan's Purse, an Evangelical organization from the United States.
