An electronic fare system will be tested in a number of trolleybuses in Chisinau during a month.
The passengers will buy tickets from the driver and punch them, while the conductor will check the tickets, the head of the Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci has told Info-Prim Neo.
The system will be tried in about 20 trolleybuses running on route No. 7, 3 and 20. It is a pilot project implemented in concert with the EBRD, Morgoci said. The aim of the project is to increase the incomes of the Electric Transport Company by minimizing costs related to remuneration.
“If the system is successful, it will be put into operation,” Gheorghe Morgoci stated.
As many as 250 trolleybuses are running on routes in the municipality of Chisinau.
