MPs Octavian Țîcu and Iurie Reniță, who are running for MP on the list of the National Unity Party (PUN), accuse the Kremlin of interference in the election campaign in the Republic of Moldova. According to them, Russia wants to destabilize the political situation in Moldova and keeps Chisinau under control through the agency of loyal political forces and agents of influence inside political parties, IPN reports.

In a news conference, Octavian Țîcu said the Russian Federation aims to distance the Republic of Moldova from the European Union and the U.S. by destabilization and by compromising the European integration course. Furthermore, it wants to neutralize and to even distance Romania in the relations with the Republic of Moldova.

According to Țîcu, the press reports that appeared recently in Germany, concerning the financing of Igor Dodon’s campaign in the presidential elections, confirm the “scheme” about which he spoke not only once.

The MP noted that to achieve its political goals, the Russian Federation acts in a number of directions, including the financing and protection of pro-Russian parties and discrediting of the pro-European forces by propaganda and by the infiltration of agents.

“The things about which we warned a year ago – that Dodon and his corrupt gang are massively financed by the Kremlin - come true. Regrettably, that message and warning weren’t supported by other MPs,” stated Iurie Reniță. According to him, the Prosecutor’s Office hasn’t yet focused on such cases as the so-called Bahamas case. Therefore, it seems that Igor Dodon is protected.
