The publication of the Kroll report by Speaker Andrian Candu brings the continuation of the investigation into the case of stealing into question now that the confidentiality close was violated. Such conclusions were formulated in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
Director of the Resource Center for Human Rights Sergiu Ostaf said Kroll could refuse to perform the second part of the investigation. “Initially, there was signed the confidentiality clause. I don’t think that those from Kroll will make noise, but they could refuse to continue the investigation given the unpredictable behavior of the Moldovan authorities. Andrian Candu acted more like a politician. By publishing the Kroll report, he gained visibility and support in society,” he stated.
Economic analyst Ion Preasca also considers that Kroll would refuse to carry out the investigation further. “It would be a pity if this company refused to investigate further. They already know a lot of information and thus the investigation will go much faster,” he said.
Economic expert Viorel Garbu believes the report was published to cover the image deficit of the PDM, but also as a result of last Sunday’s protests. “It is about competition and an ordinary struggle between political parties. But it is also a reaction of the politicians to the massive protest mounted last Sunday. The fact that over 40,000 people protest causes concern. The further events depend greatly on the authorities’ attitude to the facts described in the Kroll report,” he stated.
