Operative repair teams are ready to intervene to fix any potential power failures caused by the forecasted snow storms. The Ministry of Energy urges the general public to exercise caution and protect themselves from electrical hazards.

It is forbidden to approach electrical conductors that have fallen to the ground or are damaged, as well as those that hang dangerously from poles, constructions or trees. The place where the break of the electrical conductor occurred must be visibly delimited and the area must be secured until the intervention of the operative team.

“Refrain from interventions in electrical appliances, as these actions can endanger your life. Inform your children about appropriate behavior in such situations and urge them to inform an adult about suspicious cables. The information must be sent immediately to the electricity distribution company”, the Ministry of Energy advises.

In the event of an incident, citizens are urged to immediately notify the distribution network operator at 022-43-11-11 for Premier Energy, or 0231-2-42-01 for RED-Nord.

On January 7, Moldova is expected to be hit by freezing rain and snow. As temperatures will further drop, heavy snow (15-20 l/m2) with blizzards and gusty winds is forecast on January 8. The cold spell is expected to continue until next midweek.
