The Public Services Agency will issue international driver’s licenses only based on a valid national driver’s license for a period of up to three years, on condition that this period is not longer than the period of validity of the national driver’s license of the applicant.
Recently, the Government approved a new model of the driver’s license based on the national driver’s license of the Republic of Moldova. In a response to an inquiry made by IPN News Agency, the Public Services Agency said the international driver’s license is a document intended for participants in foreign road traffic. This document can spare the holders of national driver’s licenses from particular problems in international traffic with patrol inspectors of other states.
The tariff for issuing the international driver’s licenses of the new model hasn’t been yet approved.
Currently, the competent authorities issue driver’s licenses DL 1995, which was approved and applied by the Government decision of February 20, 1995, DL 2008, which was approved and applied by the Government decision of October 7, 2008, and DL 2015, which was approved and applied by the Government decision of June 16, 2015.
