Public health authority recommends citizens to refrain from giving parties

In a move to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission recommends the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to avoid crowdedness and to go to public places only if this is strictly necessary. The citizens are urged not to give parties in the family on the weekend, by inviting guests, and to avoid taking part in meals in the professional environment, IPN reports.

Specialists say a recent epidemiological study showed that most of the cases of infection occur inside the family, followed by trips abroad. The citizens are urged to wear protective masks, to maintain physical dancing and to sanitize the hands as often as possible.

A record number of infections with the novel coronavirus was reported in Moldova on March 11 – 1,896. On March 12, there were announced 1,785 new infections and a record number of associated deaths – 38. Among the victims was a nurse of the Municipal Children’s Contagious Diseases Hospital aged 63. A number of 96 health workers succumbed to the novel coronavirus so far, with the total death toll standing at 4,258.

Moldova so far has got 201,909 cases of COVID-19. Of the 4,162 patients with COVID-19 who are now hospitalized, 334 are in a very serious state.
