August 28, 29 and 30 will be days off for public system employees, under a proposal that aims to give them a total 9 days of vacation, weekends counted, around two major national holidays: Independence Day on August 27 and Romanian Language Day on August 31.
However, if the decision is approved by the Government, public employees will have to compensate and go to work three Saturdays in autumn: on September 8 and 29, and on October 27.
The nine-day vacation is proposed to begin on Saturday, August 25, and end on Sunday, September 2.
The Labor Code allows the Government to adjust days free from work in the public system so as to optimize work and vacations.
