Representatives of the local public authorities from eight districts attended seminars teaching how to access European funds. The sessions were staged by the League of Bessarabian Students of Ploiesti, Romania.

In a news conference at IPN, the League’s chairman and founder Iacob Cerlat said this is the most recent project implemented by the organization, within which about 350 persons were trained. The project was intended for district councils and local authorities of villages. The seminars were free of charge.

The participants were taught by Romanian expert in European investment attraction Georgiana Tanase. The expert explained the steps that must be taken to obtain European grants and gave examples from Romania’s experience in the period before and after the accession to the EU.

The last seminars took place in Leova and Cantemir on May 18 and 20. “As the participants said themselves, this seminar was a good source of information and a stimulus for modernizing the settlements,” said League member Alina Gori, thanking the administration of the districts and the participants for their willingness and openness.

Founded in 2011, the League of Bessarabian Students of Ploiesti is a nongovernmental, apolitical organization consisting of Moldovan young people who study in Romania’s Ploiesti. Its goal is to assist the young people of Moldova in integrating into Romanian society and in implementing common ideas within different sociocultural projects.

The holding of the conference was supported by the German foundation “Hanns Seidel” within the project “European integration as a national idea with the potential to strengthen Moldovan society”, which is implemented by IPN News Agency.
