On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the foundation, the public association “Altruism”, which focuses on the provision of emotional support, including to Ukrainian refugees, decided to launch the Marathon for Emotional Health. The announcement was made in a news conferene, IPN reports.

By the end of July, between 4pm and 8pm on each Thursday, the Association will stage free psychological counseling and group activities for those who experience critical times and need assistance. “The service will be available in Romania, Ukrainian, Russian, and English. We invite persons who are in critical situations to benefit from this free service. We will also have group services and art therapy. Over 30 activities will be carried out free of charge in the period. Some of the activities will be available online and on the website pentruviață.md,” stated Liuba Ceban, founder of the public association “Altruism”.

Representatives of the Association spoke about the results achieved during the 20 years of work, referring primarily to programs and projects implemented for Ukrainian refugees. “At Altruism, we managed to help over 600 beneficiaries who are actually victims of the war. They benefited from individual and group counseling, emotional training hours. Besides the fact that all the persons who come here are victims of the war and experienced the war trauma and were separated from families, they also need to accept a reality that they didn’t choose, but have to accept. As we share the same values and have similar culture, we managed to integrate them, to ensure their emotional balance and they feel much better than last year. Most of the beneficiaries of the center are women and children,” said Valeria Crasov, psychologist who works with Ukrainian refugees who benefit from the services of “Altruism”.

Attending the event, Olesea Shevchenko, the wife of Ukraine’s Ambassador to Moldova, thanked the public association “Altruism” for offering support to the refugees. “This wonderful center is a proof of the fact that your work is very necessary for the Ukrainian refugees, for those who abandoned their homes, lost their relatives, suffered a lot emotionally and physically. I thank you for this and you should know that your work will never be forgotten. The persons, mothers, children who visited this center and benefitted from services will be the best ambassadors of Ukraine. We thank you for working together with specialists from Ukraine,” stated Olesea Shevchenko.

The public association “Altruism” offers emotional support on www.pentruviata.md for persons who experience different situations and are thinking about suicide.
